Hand-painted and researched map of the empire of Alexander the Great at its greatest extent around the year 323 BC. The map is written Ancient Greek in a style mimicking contemporary preserved pieces of papyrus. One can see this clearly in the 'omega' among other letters (all capitalized of course). Bookending the title are two replications of contemporary mosaics, both featuring Alexander the Great. After following his father to become King of Macedonia, Alexander quickly became hegemon of the Greeks and then sent out to fulfill what he saw as his destiny - conquering Persia. Reaching as far as India before turning back, Alexander conquered the known world and beyond, laying the foundation for the Wars of the Diodachi and the Hellenistic era.

High-quality giclee print available at various sizes. The actual detail is greater than in the photos, which have been compressed. This piece took roughly six weeks to research, draft, and paint. I had assistance with the research from Ph.D. candidate at UCLA Arjun Srirangarajan.

Unfortunately, I do not typically sell my prints with the frames but if that is something you are interested in, please contact me directly. Additionally, if you are interested in the original rather than a print, please contact me directly.
