Hand-painted and researched map of the world in the year 1904. I created this map in the style of the double hemisphere world maps popular in the 17th-19th centuries and replicated the calligraphic styles common in those maps. Each country is written in its script, such that Russia is written in Russian and Japan in Japanese, for instance. In this pre-WW1 era, Europeans dominate global affairs and one can clearly see the British, French, and German empires. The Ottoman, Austrian, and Russian Empires persist, while America extends to the Philippines, not yet the superpower it will become. Bookending the title are two watercolor paintings I created to encapsulate "new world" and "old world" landscapes. Below the map are the flags of the main global powers in the year 1904.

High-quality giclee print available at various sizes. The actual detail is greater than in the photos, which have been compressed. This piece took roughly two months to research, draft, and paint.

Unfortunately, I do not typically sell my prints with the frames but if that is something you are interested in, please contact me directly. Additionally, if you are interested in the original rather than a print, please contact me directly.
