Handpainted and researched map of Europe in 1923 with national flags. Each country and city is written according to the local language and script: the Soviet Union is written in Cyrillic, Greece is written in Greek, and Germany is called "Deutschland," for instance. This era between the wars was defined by great uncertainty and instability: the League of Nations has been established, but will prove weak and ineffective. Communism threatens Europe and an expansionist USSR is stopped by Polish armies. Weimar Germany, Italy, and Hungary have great revanchist desires. Soon, the Great Depression will radicalize politics and fascists will come to power which will lead to the Second World War.
High-quality giclee print available at various sizes. The actual detail is greater than in the photos, which have been compressed.
Unfortunately, I do not typically sell my prints with the frames but if that is something you are interested in, please contact me directly. Additionally, if you are interested in the original rather than a print, please contact me directly.
