Handpainted and researched map of Iceland in the Viking Age written in Long-branch Younger Futhark Runes, which are contemporary to the era. The place names come from a variety of sources, including the Landnámabók (9th and 10th centuries) and the Íslendingasögur (13th and 14th centuries). At the bottom is a painting of one of Iceland's many fjords, and at the top are two symbols. One is the triple horn of Odin and the other is a copy of a wood carving of four intertwined dragons from the Valþjófsstaður door--the only medieval Icelandic carved door in existence. The island is divided into its historical four farthings (landsfjórðungar), written in red text.

High-quality giclee print available at various sizes. The actual detail is greater than in the photos, which have been compressed.

Unfortunately, I do not typically sell my prints with the frames but if that is something you are interested in, please contact me directly. Additionally, if you are interested in the original rather than a print, please contact me directly.
