Hand-painted and researched map of metropolitan France depicting the principal wine-producing regions and their geographic foundations. Rather than presenting wine regions as isolated marketing labels, the map situates viticulture within the physical and environmental structures that have shaped it: river valleys, mountain barriers, coastal climates, and soil-defined appellations.

Major regions — including Bordeaux, Bourgogne, Champagne, the Loire Valley, the Rhône Valley, Alsace, and Languedoc — are rendered within their geographic context, with select subregions and notable vineyard areas identified to emphasize internal differentiation. The map underscores that French wine is not a single national tradition but a mosaic of localized terroirs shaped by centuries of cultivation, regulation, and regional identity.

Conceptually, the work treats viticulture as a form of historical geography. Appellations correspond not merely to administrative boundaries but to inherited agricultural systems structured by climate, geology, and political history.
